The Ideal Way To Perfect Driveway
In situations when asphalt layer on the roads is damaged or deteriorated, a new layer needs to be applied. But, if new layers of asphalt are being constantly added on top of the old and worn layers, the height of the road would increase and the effectiveness of the curbs and the drainage system will decrease. This is also true for driveways. And one very effective way for crating a perfect driveway is the process of asphalt profiling. The asphalt profiling, or asphalt milling process, is an environmentaly friendly and cost effective way to bring the old asphalt pavement back to its original condition at minimal cost. Generally, asphalt profiling is the process where the existing asphalt layer is being removed to a specific depth; it is recycled and a new layer is applied without increasing the height of the road.
For the asphalt profiling operation, special machines known as road profilersare used. The road profiler, or the pavement profiler, is a very effective machine which comes with one metal rotating drum equipped with teeth. The drum of the pavement profiler cuts off the asphalt surface while rotating in anti-clock direction. During the process, some portion or the entire asphalt area can be removed, depending on how damaged the driveway is. The pavement profiler moves the asphalt layer that has been cut off on a belt conveyor which throws the material directly into dump trucks. The asphalt layer is recycled and is applied again to the driveway. The entire process of removing and applying recycled asphalt layer is less expensive when compared with the process of applying brand new asphalt layer.
For effective asphalt profiling process, only powerful and Eco-friendly road profilers are used. These machines usually are powered by diesel engines. The process of road profiling includes several steps that need to be completed for achieving the desired results:
- Road clearance
- Pulverization
- Grading
- Water application
- Compaction
- Curing and Re-Surfacing
Every step of profiling process requires close attention and usage of appropriate equipment. The entire process of profiling with appropriate road profilers will take care of any bumps, lumps, and other dangerous cracks on the road by removing and replacing the damaged asphalt layer and restoring a driveway to its original condition. A number of benefits can be gained from road profiling process, from increasing the lifespan and the quality of the asphalt layer to improving the road drainage system. Furthermore, the profiling can also improve the skid resistance of the driveway.
