The Ideal Types Of Handmade Accessories

“I’ve always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman’s outfit”, says the famous Michael Kors. Accessories are that one thing that makes the vision of a stylish woman complete. They help spice up the look of your favourite little black dress and make wearing that simple knitted blouse with jeans look fabulous while making a fashion statement. Or, as a very stylish and fashionably mature friend of mine always says: „I feel naked without my earrings on .“

Every type of accesory you own can look great if you combine it with the right clothes and wear it on the proper occasions. You cannot wear a massive golden necklace for grocery shopping right? Just like you cannot wear handmade accessories on the annual gala night from work. But then again, that happens once in a year, so lets simply hold on to our everyday routines. Aside from the golden and silver pieces I’ve got over the years and keep for special occasions, I’ve grown very fond of the handmade accessories I bought from various places. People really are creative with jewellery. And based on my large collection, my list of the ideal types of handmade accessories comes down to the following.

1. Metal details
These handmade accessories would fall in the more expensive category of jewellery, since the material they are made of includes metals like gold, silver and gemstones. They are handmade because they are not sold as a commercial line, but are made in one or two examples. Plus, they are unique.

2. Beaded accessories
This is something you can do at home; beading is easy and fun and leaves space for huge creativity. Beaded necklaces and earrings are especially trendy now, and the trend is massive necklaces that act like a detail on simple knitted blouses.

3. Perspex jewellery
Perspex is a highly versatile material and as such allows for creating a lot of different designs. It is kind of an acrylic plastic often used as a substitute for glass. It is especially good for making bracelets and earrings.

4. Stones
Besides gemstones, circonia and other stone-like materials can be used for creating trendy accessories. These accessories have a lot of stones on them, mainly in different colours. Think of all kinds of massive, interesting ring designs, pretty unique and cool, right?

5. Wire wrapped accessories
This list would not be complete without the wire wrapped pendants and rings. Handmade accessories with pendants made or wrapped in wire are also very stylish. These are especially convenient for hipsters, since they fit every style and hold their fashion philosophy – handmade, with a story attached.

This is my list of handmade accessories with an accent on jewellery. And since accessories are a very large category, I have to mention scarves, hats, handbags, sunglasses and a lot more items that can be handmade. Still, good jewellery always holds the number one spot.
