The Ideal Paint Used With Road Line Marking Equipment
Road markings are an important part of roads all around the world because they ensure safe and efficient transport by providing road information for all road participants. The markings are inserted and painted on roads by special road line marking machines. In order to be readable and understandable for every road user, the road markings are big and contain simple information. They also serve as signs that warn, redirect and guide the drivers on the roads.
As mentioned above, the road line markings are painted with specially designed machines called road marking machines. Today, there are various road line marking machines and each type is used for specific application and with a specific paint. Different kinds of paint can be used, and not only the standard yellow and white color. Every paint is used for a specific purpose, so it is difficult to say which one is the ideal. In general, the road line markings are painted with four main types of paint:
- Water Based Road Paint;
- Oil/Solvent Based Paint;
- Thermoplastic Paint (hot or cold applied);
- Reflective Paint.
The most commonly used paint by road marking machines is the water based road paint. The water based road paint can be utilized on both concrete and asphalt surfaces. It is ideal for many applications and can be used by all road line marking machines because it works as line striping paint, road marking paint and curb making. What makes this paint ideal for many road line marking machines, is the fact that it is Eco-friendly since water is the main ingredient. Easy to apply and maintain, the water based road paint lowers the costs significantly.
Another solution for the road line markings is the cold applied thermoplastic paint. The thermoplastic paint is capable to withstand more than regular paints, but is not as affordable. The cold applied thermoplastic paint is applied using the usual road marking machines, and the process does not require additional attachments or equipment. Also, the thermoplastic paint does not require specific maintenance, just a big amount of water for cleaning up.
