DEWALT DW745: The Second-Best Model in the Company’s Job Site Table Saw Line
The unit has a folding stand that allows you to store it compactly and carry it with ease when you are on the go. This is also one of the lightest units that we tested, coming in at 48 pounds. This DEWALT tool is designed for professional contractors and woodworkers. It has a powerful 15-amp motor that can rip through hardwoods without breaking a sweat. It also comes with a rolling stand that makes it easy to move around the work site or storage space, especially if you have to climb any stairs or obstacles along the way.
DEWALT DCHS350 Heavy-Duty Hammer
The DEWALT DCHS350 heavy-duty hammer is designed for use with framing nails and other framing materials. It’s a pretty standard two-handed framing hammer, with an 18″ long handle for maximum leverage. The head is made of high-quality forged steel that’s designed to last and won’t break, regardless of the force you’re applying to it.
The overall length of the DCHS350 is 26.25″, and it weighs in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces. It’s mostly made of steel, but there are also some plastic pieces involved — primarily in the handle and spine, where they act as a shock absorber.
The head has an angled design that makes it easy to hit all the nail heads on a single swing, and it comes with both a 3″ and a 4″ head, depending on your needs. With both heads, you can get into areas where smaller framing hammers might be too small or too big for your purposes.
DEWALT Tool: Plate Joiners
Plate joiners are the new hotness in woodworking. These heavy-duty tool users are used for everything from cutting, drilling, sanding and even mortising. DEWALT has a number of different plate joiner models, each with a different capacity, ranging from 1 to 32 inch plates (1/2 to 2 inches thick).
Each model also has a different handle design that makes it easier or more comfortable to use. The DEWALT 380 has a 1/2 inch capacity and is one of several models that comes with a relatively light-duty straight edge handle. This model is designed to be used with plywood or MDF panels up to 4 inches thick.
For working in thicker materials, you’ll need a heavier-duty joiner like the DEWALT 381 model. This one has a 3-inch capacity and is designed for use with 4-inch through 6-inch sheets of MDF or plywood. In addition to the long handle, this joiner also comes with a metal plate holder that makes it easier to make adjustments while you’re working.
The DEWALT 386 plate joiner is an all-purpose workhorse model that’s also ideal for cutting wood panels up to 6 inches thick. It has a 2-inch capacity and a 7 amp motor with 10,000 RPM. It’s available in two configurations — either with the standard straight edge handle or with an attachment that turns it into an angle joiner for making mortise joints at angles between 0 and 90 degrees.
DEWALT Tool: Laser
A DEWALT laser is an excellent tool for construction professionals. They are designed to cut through wood, metal and other materials without causing damage to the material or heating it up. The result is a clean, smooth cut that you can use over and over again.
A DEWALT laser has two different settings:
- Continuous: This mode cuts continuously as long as the trigger is held down. It’s great for cutting large materials, such as the tops of walls, flooring or plywood.
- Pulse: This is the most efficient option for what DEWALT calls “cutting mode.” Pulse mode distinguishes itself from continuous mode because it only cuts when the trigger is fully depressed. This means that it’s more powerful and faster than continuous mode, so you can use it on small cuts in a single pass.
