Designer Wallpapers: The Ideal Way to Add Aesthetic Appeal to a Space

When it comes to home décor, very few people think about the walls. Most of us are spend a lot of time worrying what we put between them, like the furniture, fabrics, carpets, accessories, and we forget how much of an impact the walls have on our space. Although there are many different options for wall treatment, there is a trend that exploded over the past few years and that’s the wallpaper.

Designer Wallpapers

Up until recently, wallpapers were considered a relic of the past, something that you only see when you go visit your grandmother. Of course, this is no longer the case. With today’s materials and printing techniques, you can find designer wallpapers that will blow your mind. Retro, modern, minimalist, industrial, stripes, dots, geometric, floral, realistic, urban, you name it, you can find it all. There are even 3D wallpapers that literally jump out of the all (not recommended to stare at while on psychedelic substances). Wallpapers are able to completely transform your space and add new dimensions to it, in ways that paint can’t even come close (unless you invent a time machine, bring back Salvador Dali, and have him paint your walls, then yeah, maybe).

Anyway, even the way people use designer wallpapers has changed a lot in recent years. In fact, people rarely cover all the walls with wallpapers. So, here are some new and creative ways to bring the style in your home to new heights using designer wallpapers.

Try this one for starters: cover just a single wall. For example, if you are not ready to commit to a full wallpapered bedroom, why not cover just the wall behind the bed. This way you create a great focal point in your bedroom and infuse the space with a special layer of colour, pattern, and texture. You can even use leftover wallpaper an apply it to a certain portion of the wall.

Another unconventional way of using wallpapers is covering the ceiling. This is an often overlooked space so why not add a pattern to it. Wallpaper on a ceiling has a huge impact on the space especially if you have neutral walls and can add a lovely dimension to an otherwise pretty standard room.

One of my favourite wallpaper tricks is framing a large piece of wallpaper. Most sheets of wallpaper are cut the same size as a poster frame which means you can use one of those. Or, you can cheat and apply pieces of lightweight wood on the wall and make it look like a painting.
