The Ideal Way To Pack Your Beach Bag
Are you a dreamer? I certainly am. I often dream about a beautiful breezy day at the beach. The sun gently touches my skin and the calm sound of the ocean fills my ears with peace. Oh, what a good summer treat for my exhausted soul and body. Admit it, it does sound relaxing. But getting ready for the beach surely isn’t. Organizing ladies beach bags seems so easy on Pinterest and YouTube but it really isn’t all that simple. I mean there are so many beach essentials you need to not forget.
A properly packed beach bag is the key to maximizing your time in the sun and sand. What you’ll want is to stay organized and keep all your stuff free from sand (except for your toes of course). So make a list but hey remember, you’re going to the beach not backpacking through Europe. Bring just the things you really need and you’ll really use. Let’s put it this way, will you really read the two books you have packed. Of course not. So, one fashion magazine is enough to keep you busy when taking a little break from swimming or roasting on the sun.
Before I list the must-have beach items, let’s get one thing straight – your flowery beach towel, high-SPF sunscreen and cute flip-flops really mean little if you do not have the right beach bag. Getting a bag that is the right size, the right material and with enough pockets (crucial for separating wet towels, swimming suit or even flip-flops or sun screen that have become encrusted with dump sand) is just as important as remembering to pack the sunscreen.
Online and offline market offers a wide array of ladies beach bags. You can choose from nylon, cotton, canvas and leather, from medium to large in size, from neon pink to more neutral colours; it is really up to you. Also remember, your needs may differ if you are single or married with kids. However, a bag made of quality material (preferably waterproof), with as many pockets and compartments as possible that will save you time and keep things within arm’s reach, is something you should look for regardless of your marital status. What’s important is to choose a bag that suits your style and with so many ladies beach bags designs available, you surely won’t have any problem finding the one.
What’s also important is what you’ll pack in your beach bag. If you ask me, it is best to make a list of things you plan to do. For example, do you plan to go for a round of drinks in a nearby bar or to a dinner in a local restaurant. If so, packing a summer dress or a lacy cover-up and a pair of shorts is certainly a good idea. Here’s what else your beach bag should include.
- A beach towel(s) is a must. Fold or roll it and place it vertically in your bag to ensure easy access.
- Be sure to pack your skin care essentials like sunscreen (look for higher SPF), after sun moisturizer, and a lip balm. To ensure there are no accidental spills, place the creams in a plastic zip-lock bag.
- Pack of wipes (for all skin types).
- One or two empty plastic bags to pack your wet swimsuit and towel.
- Stylish sunglasses (wider or bigger to provide better eye protection), a hat (best are the wide brim ones or not-too large straw hats), additional swimsuit, flip flops, a bottle(s) of water (you’ll get thirsty within the first 15 minutes, trust me), some snacks (optional), and a good book or magazine.
- Do not carry your wallet. Place your driver’s license, cash or credit card and keys in a zip-lock bag or a small container. Do the same with your cell phone and digital camera. You surely want to protect your electronic devices from water and sand.
Place the heaviest items on the bottom of your beach tote, like water bottles. Rolled towel place vertically and then pack other essentials in the empty space. Pack food and snacks last to prevent them from getting crushed. And voila, you’re all set to hit the beach and soak up sun. Have fun!
